Building on land covered by a Bushfire Management Overlay
We prepare a Bushfire Management Statement that includes a BAL rating based on a site-specific assessment of real fire behaviour and how it will affect a building, rather than follow the default one-size-fits-all approach. If appropriate this site-specific approach may include consideration of the effect of terrain on wind speed and direction on fire behaviour at the development site, and the origin of airflow on the Fire Danger Index (FDI). The content of this page continues development, so please visit us again soon. Meanwhile,
contact Community Safety Services if you have any queries on this subject.
Our “alternative assessment” approach to preparation of a BMO Statement also provides an actual bushfire risk assessed basis for preparation of a site-specific bushfire survival plan for the property involved.
